Potter does not die, he will come back to life after sacrificing his life. But many others died May Madey, lupine, Tonks, etc.

Harry Potter does not die, but have a near death experience after Voldemort's curse hit him with death. See In this experiment, to get, and talk to Professor Dumbedore, who died in book 6th Then come back and defeat Voldemort.

Anyway, to answer your question, I'd say it's really not clear whether Harry dies or not. Voldemort deliberately tried to kill him because he felt that he go in that part of Voldemort in him, the (otherwise, if Harry was alive, Voldemort could be killed). Voldemort is finally killed shortly after Harry, and Harry was able to return to the earth and his soul. So when Voldemort tried to kill Harry, Voldemortkilling curse rebounded disarmingly charming killed Harry and Voldemort.

It was a scene of death, but not die. He goes to his death on a voluntary basis. He ends up "somewhere" to talk to Dumbledore. Because of their generosity, it is allowed to return and defeat Voldemort. Because of his mother's love protected him from Voldemort's fate, when he returned, his love for his friends and fellow students / teachers are protected against the Voldemort's spell as well.
